Interview End

I interviewed Ang Lee tonight. I was a nervous wreck. It was the first interview of my life at age 13. For those of you out there who have no idea who he is I will tell you. The man is the genius director of our time. Someday when we are old with kids Ang Lee will have made the 10 best movies of our history that is who Ang Lee is. I will tell you he has greatness in his soul and you know that as soon as you see his movie, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. He pays attention to the details of life. He is able to pays attention because he is a real observer of life who puts everything he notices into a movie and everything he feels into action. I wish he were one of my teachers at school. He is soft-spoken and kind. I could listen to him for hours talk about anything. I wish everyone who has been ignored in life could meet him for 10 minutes and know that not all adults lack sensitivity. Somehow this kind, brilliant, wonderful man is balanced and understanding in spite of our crazy world. He creates quietly from inside of himself sharing his dreams on the movie screen with all of us. I have one hope after this interview and after seeing this great movie and that is to watch him direct. I just want to be a fly on the wall not to learn technique but to watch him be happy doing what he loves to do. Most adults seem burnt out by the time they are his age. When I first saw his movie Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon there was something about the light that caught my eye throughout the film. Then I saw Eat Drink Man Woman an older film about food and the light was also very clear and beautiful. We talked about that in the interview. I also think his outlook on life is clear and beautiful and he uses light in a spectacular way that makes his movies stand out. Thank you Mr. Ang Lee for the first interview of my life. This is like having your first meal ever cooked by the best chef in the world! The only thing I can say is that I don't need to taste other food to know that I have started at the top in the presence of a genius. Thank you everyone for sending over 200 emails per day and over 35,000 hits this month. Special thanks to Mr. John Lippman of The Wall Street Journal. who was the first journalist to interview me.
